For Immediate Release:
New option available for people that can’t have LASIK
Tyler, Texas
People who are extremely near-sighted or have been told they could not have LASIK are likely to be a candidate for a new procedure, called Visian ICL Surgery. Visian ICL®, a unique implantable collamer intraocular lens that corrects nearsightedness, a condition affecting 1 in 4 people in the U.S. Think of the Visian ICL as a contact lens inside the eye, but better, because it is permanent and will never dry out, become dirty, get lost or need to be re-inserted in the eye each morning.
Dr. Charles Heaton of Heaton Eye Associates is the first in East Texas and among the first in the state of Texas to perform this procedure and has seen great results in his patients. “We are pleased to offer patients one more advanced technology that will make a difference in their eyesight and their quality of life,” says Dr. Heaton, who is known for his pioneering work in new vision care treatments.
The Visian ICL produces not only improved visual acuity (20/20 vision is considered normal visual acuity), but also excellent visual quality. Many patients experience the "Wow" factor when they experience the immediate improvement in the quality of their vision.
The Visian ICL Surgery is a procedure performed in Heaton Eye Associates’ state-of-the-art on-site surgery center that only takes 15-30 minutes for the actual procedure. A lens is placed between the iris and the eye's natural lens. The placement of the Visian ICL makes the lens invisible to the patient and any observer. However, unlike traditional contact lenses, once the Visian ICL is implanted in the eye, there is no additional maintenance needed. The Visian ICL was designed to be permanently placed in the eye. However, the lens can be removed if a patient's vision changes or if it otherwise needs to be removed or replaced.
