Lifestyle Lenses

Cataract surgery has undergone tremendous technological advancements over the years, and there are now many options available to renew your vision. Today’s cataract surgery has the potential to not only eliminate your cataracts, but also allow you to regain your youthful lifestyle. For patients wanting to rid themselves of cataracts while also gaining more visual independence, Heaton Eye Associates is pleased to offer Advanced Lifestyle Lenses.

With Lifestyle Lenses, you may be able to see well for all your activities!

Presbyopia

As we age, the natural lens of our eye loses its flexibility, making it difficult to focus on things up-close. This condition is called “presbyopia” and affects everyone, usually starting in your mid-40’s. Because of this blurred vision for close-up tasks, most people turn to reading glasses. However, as many have discovered, reading glasses may not be convenient for your active lifestyle. The good news is that, with lifestyle lenses, you may be able to reduce or eliminate your need for reading glasses!

Glaucoma

As technology continues to advance, we are pleased to offer state-of-the-art lifestyle lens options for glaucoma patients having cataract surgery. These lenses provide exciting options that allow patients with glaucoma to become less dependent on glasses after cataract surgery!  Ask us about this technology and we’ll help determine if it’s right for you.

Lifestyle Lens Types

ReSTOR®

For most patients, life without reading glasses or bifocals is something they either experienced before presbyopia, or they just dreamed about for most of their lives. Today the AcrySof® ReSTOR® IOL is turning those dreams into reality with its revolutionary lens technology, which is designed to allow patients to see clearly at all distances without bifocals or reading glasses. The ReSTOR® IOL is now available and delivers a high level of glasses-free vision for cataract patients.

In a clinical study, 80% of patients receiving the ReSTOR® IOL reported that they never wear glasses for any activities. With the ReSTOR® IOL they can read a book, work on a computer, and drive a car – day or night – with an increased freedom from glasses. In fact, patients were so pleased with their vision that nearly 94% of patients said they would have the ReSTOR® IOL implanted again if given the choice.

Tecnis®

The Tecnis® Multifocal Lens is a multifocal intraocular lens. Unlike traditional single-vision lens implants, the Tecnis® lens provides quality vision both at a distance and up close. Traditional single-vision lenses usually provide good vision only at a distance with limited ability to see objects that are near without glasses. The Tecnis® Multifocal Lens not only replaces the natural lens clouded by a cataract, but also allows the patient to correct prior nearsightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia.

Tecnis® Symfony Lens

Heaton Eye Associates, always at the forefront of technology, is pleased to be the first practice in East Texas to offer patients the Tecnis® Symfony Lens. Symfony is an FDA-approved lens that offers patients more safety and sharper vision after cataract surgery. This extended range of vision IOL delivers a continuous, full range of high quality vision with less halos and glare. Symfony provides seamless day-to-night vision, allowing patients to see clearly at near, intermediate and far, as well as all points in between.

Toric Lens

According to statistics, 1 in 6, or 45 million, people in the U.S. are affected by astigmatism. Astigmatism is an irregularity in the shape of the cornea that causes vision to be blurry or distorted. With Toric IOL implants, patients can enjoy clear, crisp vision free from both cataracts and astigmatism.

PanOptix®

PanOptix@ is the 1st and only trifocal lens for an exceptional combination of near, intermediate and distance vision after cataract surgery. Heaton Eye Associates is the first in our area to use the PanOptix® lens, providing our patients more options for better vision with cataract surgery.

RxSIGHT Light Adjustable Lens

RxSIGHT is the world’s 1st post cataract surgery adjustable lens, and Heaton Eye Associates was the 1st in East Texas to offer it. After your cataract procedure, your surgeon makes a series of non-invasive light adjustments giving you the ability to adjust and preview your vision until it meets your personal goals and lifestyle requirements. These lenses deliver superior outcomes that non-adjustable lenses cannot match. We are pleased to offer this advanced technology, providing our patients even more choices to get their best, desired outcome with cataract surgery.

Crystalens®

The Crystalens® is designed to simulate the eye’s natural ability to focus on distance, middle and near objects. It is the first FDA-approved accommodating IOL. Heaton Eye Associates was the first in East Texas to offer Crystalens® to our patients.
