The FDA, National Eye Institute (NEI) and the Department of Defense (DoD) launched the LASIK Quality of Life Collaboration Project to help identify patient satisfaction rating, determine the percentage of patients who develop difficulties performing usual activities after LASIK and to identify predictors for those patients.
The FDA released the results of the Quality of Life Project and they’re astounding. Results of the study showed that more than 95% of participants were satisfied with their vision following LASIK surgery. LASIK has the highest satisfaction rating of any elective procedure.
The Quality of Life study also showed that less than 1 percent of participants experienced “a lot of difficulty” with or inability to do usual activities without corrective lenses because of any one visual symptom, such as starbursts, ghosting, halos, glare after LASIK surgery.
