P. Christi Carter, M.D. is a Board-Certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases, including cataract surgery with Lifestyle Lenses. She is a native Texan, born and raised in the Austin area. She attended Texas A&M University on a full volleyball scholarship, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Kinesiology. While there, she received many accolades for her academic and athletic performance, including being named a National Strength & Conditioning All-American candidate, and a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-American Women’s Volleyball First Team.
Dr. Carter attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where she discovered her passion for ophthalmology. She completed her internship at Houston Methodist Hospital before moving to Iowa for residency training at the prestigious University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. While at Iowa, she was awarded the Resident Leadership Award and participated in research, producing academic publications, and giving numerous academic presentations.
Prior to moving to Athens, Dr. Carter served as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in Marble Falls, Texas.
Dr. Carter is excited to make her home in Athens and serve her patients there. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, playing volleyball, scuba-diving, wakeboarding, hiking, and Bible study.
